About the Hanged Man

Take an Intentional Pause

We live in a world that constantly demands action. Faced with uncertainty, difficult decisions or persistent challenges, we are often encouraged to work harder, move faster or find the answer as quickly as possible. Yet some of life's most important questions cannot be solved through more effort alone. Sometimes what we need most is the opportunity to pause.

The Hanged Man was created to provide that opportunity. Using the symbolic archetypes of the tarot as a framework for reflection, I help people explore challenges, uncover new perspectives and create the space needed for greater clarity and understanding. This is not about prediction, fortune telling or being told what to do. It is about stepping back from the noise long enough to see things differently.

I call this the Intentional Pause.

What is an Intentional Pause?

An Intentional Pause is the deliberate choice to create space for reflection before rushing towards a solution. It is an opportunity to step back from the pressure to immediately fix, decide or move forward and instead spend time exploring what a situation is really asking of us.

The goal is not to find instant answers. It is to approach our challenges with greater curiosity, honesty and understanding. By slowing down and examining a situation from a different perspective, we often discover possibilities, patterns and insights that were difficult to recognise before.

This philosophy sits at the heart of everything I do. Every reading, report and conversation is designed to support that process.

Why The Hanged Man?

The Hanged Man is one of the most misunderstood cards in the tarot. While it is often associated with waiting or surrender, I have always been drawn to its deeper meaning. To me, The Hanged Man represents perspective. It is the moment when we stop resisting our circumstances long enough to understand them more clearly.

That symbolism became deeply personal in 2022 when developing Long Covid forced me to put many aspects of my life on hold. What initially felt like an unwelcome interruption became an opportunity to reassess my priorities, re-evaluate my goals and reflect on what truly mattered. That experience reinforced something the card had always suggested: meaningful insight often emerges when we create space for it.

The Hanged Man serves as a reminder that progress is not always measured by action. Sometimes it begins with a pause.

My Approach

I was gifted my first tarot deck at the age of twelve and have been fascinated by the cards ever since. What continues to inspire me is not the idea of predicting the future, but the rich symbolism and archetypal stories contained within the deck.

My approach is built on a simple belief: you already hold the answers.

Tarot cannot tell you what to do. What it can do is provide a structured framework for exploring your situation, recognising patterns, challenging assumptions and considering alternative perspectives. The cards become a catalyst for reflection. The insight comes from you.

Every reading is designed to help you move from confusion towards clarity, from uncertainty towards understanding and from feeling stuck towards recognising the choices that already exist.

A Structured, Inclusive Space

Supporting people to navigate complexity has been a consistent theme throughout my career, including fifteen years working in Higher Education, where I led teams, developed services and helped individuals work through complex challenges and realise their potential.

I am passionate about creating a space where people feel able to explore difficult questions honestly and without judgement. As a queer man, with lived experience of mental health challenges, complex life experiences and supporting neurodiverse loved ones, I understand that traditional models of guidance do not always work for everyone.

The Hanged Man is committed to providing a fully neuro-inclusive and queer-affirming environment. Every reading is designed to be reflective rather than prescriptive, structured rather than overwhelming, and validating rather than judgemental.

My Promise

I do not tell you what to do. I do not predict your future and I do not claim certainty where none exists.

Instead, I help you take an Intentional Pause.

Together, we create the space needed to explore your challenge from a new perspective, helping you move forward with greater clarity, confidence and control.
