Terms and Conditions
1. About The Hanged Man
These Terms and Conditions apply to services provided by Daniel Todhunter, a sole trader trading as The Hanged Man.
Website: www.thehangedman.co.uk
Email: bookings@thehangedman.co.uk
Business correspondence address: Ryley Cottage, High Street, Billingshurst, RH14 0RD
In these Terms, “I”, “me” and “my” mean Daniel Todhunter trading as The Hanged Man, and “you” means the client.
This is version 1.0 of these Terms and is effective from 13th September 2026.
2. Agreement to these terms and conditions
By completing checkout, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms. The contract is formed when your order and payment are successfully completed. Your order confirmation records the purchase but does not replace or amend these Terms.
3. Eligibility and client responsibilities
You must be at least 18 and must book the service for yourself. Services cannot currently be purchased on behalf of another person or as gifts.
When placing an order, you agree to provide information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. You must not deliberately misrepresent your identity or circumstances. You are responsible for providing a working email address and for notifying me promptly if your contact or booking information changes.
Services are available to individuals resident in the United Kingdom. I may cancel an order with a full refund if I cannot lawfully or reasonably provide the service in your location.
The services are provided to individuals for personal use, including reflection on career, workplace, creative or business-related challenges. They are not business consultancy and may not be ordered by companies or organisations under these Terms.
4. Services
The Reflection is a personalised written three-card tarot reading, delivered by email as a PDF, normally within 48 hours of order confirmation.
The Deep Dive is a 60-minute online three-card tarot reading and reflective conversation, followed by a personalised PDF report, normally delivered within 48 hours of the session. A completed preparation form is required before the appointment can be confirmed.
Further details are available on the relevant service page. Each reading is personalised, and examples do not guarantee particular interpretations, conclusions or outcomes.
5. Nature and limits of the services
The services use tarot as a symbolic framework for reflection and perspective. Interpretations are subjective, not factual or predictive, and do not establish another person’s thoughts or intentions, determine outcomes or tell you what decision to make.
No particular insight or outcome is guaranteed. You remain responsible for your decisions and should not make an important decision solely on the basis of a reading.
The services do not provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, financial or crisis advice, assessment, diagnosis or treatment. They are not suitable for emergencies. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services or an appropriate crisis-support service.
6. Information supplied by you
Please provide the information reasonably required to deliver the service and avoid unnecessary personal information about others. If clarification is required, the delivery timeframe may be paused. If sufficient information is not provided, I may cancel and issue a full refund.
Preparation forms for The Reflection and The Deep Dive must normally be returned within 14 days. I will usually send a reminder after seven days. Work cannot begin until the required form has been received. If a preparation form is not returned within 14 days, I may cancel the booking and issue a full refund. For The Deep Dive, appointment options remain provisional until the form is received and delays may require new appointment options.
7. Price and payment
The price is the price displayed at checkout and must be paid in full in pounds sterling using an available payment method. I am not registered for VAT. Any promotion or discount will be applied at checkout and may be changed or withdrawn for future orders.
8. Cancellation by you
You normally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of the date on which the contract is formed. To cancel, email bookings@thehangedman.co.uk and clearly state that you wish to cancel your order.
Both services may begin during the 14-day cancellation period. At checkout, you will be asked to expressly request that the service begins during this period and to acknowledge that:
if you cancel after the service has begun but before it has been completed, I may retain or charge a proportionate amount for the work already provided; and
once the service has been fully completed, you will lose the statutory right to cancel.
For The Reflection, the service normally begins after the completed Reflection Preparation Form has been received. If you cancel before submitting the Preparation Form, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel after submitting the Preparation Form but before the report has been completed, any refund will take account of the proportion of the service already provided. The Reflection is fully completed when the completed report has been sent. After that point, no refund will be due for cancellation or a change of mind.
For The Deep Dive, a cancellation made more than 24 hours before the confirmed appointment will receive a full refund. If you cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, 80% of the price will be refunded. If you cancel after the appointment has started, 20% of the price will be refunded. The Deep Dive is fully completed when the completed report has been sent. After that point, no refund will be due for cancellation or a change of mind.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights, including your rights where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill or as described.
9. Cancellation by me
I may decline, pause or cancel a service if I cannot provide it safely, ethically or as described, including because of an out-of-scope request, insufficient information, inappropriate conduct, a conflict of interest, illness, emergency or technical failure.
Where appropriate, I will offer an alternative appointment. If I cancel, I will notify you by email and issue a full refund.
10. Online appointments and technology
Appointment options for The Deep Dive will be sent by email and stated in UK local time. An appointment is confirmed only when I confirm it by email after receiving your preparation form.
To request a change, email bookings@thehangedman.co.uk, giving more than 24 hours’ notice where possible. Late requests will be considered but cannot be guaranteed. Repeated postponements may result in cancellation and a full refund.
If you arrive late, the session will normally end at the scheduled time. If you have not joined or contacted me within 15 minutes, the appointment will be treated as missed. A first missed appointment may be rescheduled without charge. A second may be treated as a cancellation under Section 8, subject to exceptional circumstances.
If I need to reschedule, I will offer alternative times and send a new confirmation and meeting link. If no suitable alternative can be agreed, I will issue a full refund.
You are responsible for a suitable device, internet connection, camera, microphone and private location. If technical problems prevent the session from continuing, I will allow reasonable time to reconnect and may reschedule. If the problem is on my side and reconnection is unsuccessful, you may choose a new appointment or a full refund. Neither you nor I will record a session without the other person’s prior written agreement.
11. Delivery of reports
You are responsible for providing and monitoring the correct email address, including checking your spam or junk folder.
If delivery is delayed, I will provide an updated delivery time. If the revised delivery time is not acceptable, you may contact me to discuss an appropriate remedy, which may include cancellation or a proportionate refund.
If a report is missing, corrupted or inaccessible, email bookings@thehangedman.co.uk and I will provide another copy if it remains available in my records.
Reasonable accessibility adjustments may be requested when booking or completing the preparation form.
12. Corrections and complaints
Please report errors, technical defects or complaints to bookings@thehangedman.co.uk as soon as reasonably possible. I will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to provide a full response within 14 days.
I will not ordinarily revise an interpretation because it does not resonate or produce the hoped-for outcome, but you may complain about how the service was provided.
If the service was not provided with reasonable care and skill or as described, I will offer an appropriate remedy. This may include correcting or repeating the relevant part of the service, a price reduction or a full refund. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.
13. Your conduct and session boundaries
You must communicate respectfully and attend an online session in a condition that allows you to participate safely and appropriately. I may cancel a booking, or pause or end an online session, because of harassment, threats, discrimination, inappropriate conduct or safety concerns. If I cancel a booking, or end a session, I will issue a full refund.
14. Confidentiality and privacy
Information you provide will be treated respectfully and confidentially and used as reasonably necessary to administer and deliver the service. I may disclose information where required by law or where reasonably necessary to address a serious and immediate risk of harm.
Client information, session notes and reports are handled in accordance with my Privacy Notice, which explains what information I collect, how it is used, the service providers involved, retention periods and your data-protection rights.
15. Intellectual property and permitted use
I retain intellectual property rights in my branding, methodology, templates, standard card content and reports. You may download, store, print and privately share your personalised report, but may not commercially exploit or publicly republish it without written permission.
You retain ownership of original material you provide and permit me to use it to deliver the service.
Feedback is voluntary and private unless you permit publication. We will agree the testimonial wording and whether it uses your full name, first name or is used anonymously. You may withdraw permission for future use at any time.
16. Liability and events outside my reasonable control
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or failure to provide the service with reasonable care and skill.
I am responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by my breach of these Terms and Conditions or failure to use reasonable care and skill. I am not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable when the contract was formed.
The services are provided to you as a consumer for personal use. I am not responsible for business losses, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or commercial reputation.
As explained in Section 5, interpretations are subjective and intended to support reflection. I am not responsible for decisions or actions you take in reliance on a reading, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
If illness, bereavement, power or internet failure, a platform outage, severe weather, an emergency or another event outside my reasonable control delays or interrupts the service, I will contact you as soon as reasonably possible and offer an updated delivery date, a new appointment or a full refund, as appropriate.
17. Changes to the service or these terms and conditions
I may revise these Terms for future orders. Existing orders remain governed by the version accepted at checkout unless a change is required by law or agreed with you.
If I need to make a significant change to a service you have already purchased, I will notify you by email. You may accept the change or cancel the affected service for a full refund.
18. General provisions
No person other than you and me may enforce these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, without affecting any independent legal right.
If any provision is unlawful or unenforceable, it will be removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remainder will continue where it can operate as intended.
A delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. Any waiver must be clearly given in writing and applies only to the circumstances stated.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and Conditions and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales. However, if you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you will retain any mandatory rights available to you under the law of your place of residence.
If a dispute arises, please contact me first at bookings@thehangedman.co.uk so that we can try to resolve it through the complaints process set out in Section 12.
You may bring legal proceedings in the courts applicable to your place of residence. I may bring legal proceedings against you only in the courts applicable to your place of residence, unless the law permits otherwise.
If a complaint cannot be resolved directly, I will provide information about an appropriate approved alternative dispute-resolution provider where required by law. Participation in alternative dispute resolution will not prevent either party from exercising any right to bring legal proceedings.
